X-Plane Flight Simulator App Reviews

The one improvement of 10 over 9 (which I have been “flying" for years) is the detailed, outstanding graphics of terrain and airports. The features missing or worse in 10 over 9 are legion. 1. the console takes up more screen space making it difficult to see the runways 2. the dials although more realistic are smaller and difficult to read 3. the option to pan the cockpit and make the dials larger is cumbersome, especially when such adjustments alter the tilt of the iPad which is controlling the aircraft 4. there is a HUD view but you can’t go directly to it but rather must cycle through all views 5. the controls are twitchy and the tendency to roll left is exaggerated 6. there are only 5 airports rather than the previous 22 7. at each airport you can only take off from one runway - previously you could choose which end of a variety of runways to take off on 8. there is no option to start a flight on the final approach to a runway 9. there is no map 10. the planes available are limited (10 rather than 65) and rather than being included must be purchased separately which is very expensive - to charge like that and have ads as well is unbelievable The bottom line is that they have taken a sophisticated flight simulator and turned it into a rudimentary arcade game.

Its great when it actually doesnt crash and you should make more free planes or at least make them cheaper I had to pay 34 bucks for all of the planes.

Uh why the constant blue bar across the top of the screen.? Theres no need for it, have the settings button and the view button where they are but remove the dam bar, other than that the calibration is crap once the flight has started, needs a sensitivity setting or something, I almost have to lay my iPad down on my lap it gets so far out.

I spent money on the old version that included all the planes. Now they updated it and have included in app purchases and all the planes i payed for are no longer part of the game. Thanks alot laminar research for youre thoughtful thinking and money grabbing techniques.

We need more locations

After purchasing many of the other X-Plane games, Im not overly happy than the game wants me to spend $6 on ONE plane. Your company used to release fantastic apps with the customer in mind. Even at $10/app, it was well worth it. Quantity > Quality I guess.

Less involved than previous version. Plays like a video game and less like a simulator. Less technical. Very disappointed to find out I would have to purchase additional aircraft. Xplane 9 cost more up front but gave you all the aircraft. The whole app was a total bummer. Disappointment.

Austin seems to have a hate on for user interface. Half the controls in the game dont respond and you are constantly losing control. It turns what used to be a fun distraction when not near a real X Plane set up into a frustrating mess. Just like with the real flagship product, an incredibly powerful simulator, the man is a genius! But with a horrible UI. I just dont understand why he keeps messing up things he already had designed to work perfectly. The last version of this game had less bells and whistles but was way more fun because you could actually fly it without flailing away at flaps and other controls that wont work most the time. Show me a GA aircraft that sets its flaps in one degree increments.

Ive been playing this lately, and I must say Im impressed, mostly. The 3D pits are amazing, if a little bland in the available controls, the graphics are staggeringly good, and overall it "feels" smoother than X-plane HDEF 4G did. That said, there are some issues, but not many. 1) Freemium. Why Laminar, why? Id much rather pay for the app and have all the planes than have to shell out for the ones I want. 2) Limited content. There are five maps and ten planes, while HDEF4G has forty planes and a great number of maps. 3) Cumbersome camera menu. The old default view, in HDEF4G, stuck its orientation to the map. The new view sticks to the plane. While the old view is accessible by going into Replay mode, if I then change the view again I have to go to Replay to get it back.

The X-plane 9 bundle is far better than a new scatter brain X-plane 10 for iPad. I wished Laminar had stuck with the old format. Old is gold.

When I saw that there was a new X-Plane available, I was ecstatic. Then I actually played the game and was hugely disappointed. You get 1 plane for free, and if you want to unlock the 9 others, you have to pay a total of $31. $5 for a fighter jet? Really? The older X-plane HD gave you 60 planes and a freaking space shuttle for $10. And dont bother looking for X-Plane HD, because it has been removed from the App Store for some reason. The only improvements that I see in this version compared to the previous versions are the explosions when you crash and the 3D cockpits. Cant you please just give us a fixed price for a game without micro transactions? Or at the very least, dont make us pay $5 for 1 plane. Go buy Aerofly 2 instead. It costs $5 and you at least get 6 planes. They updated the game to fix bugs and now there are advertisements. Yay...

I think its the best flying simulator game ever prices are a little high but the graphics are so worth it

The planes cost a lot, and you only start out with 1 really bad plane, but it is very fun

You only get a bad plane in the beginning and its 30 dollars for planes?!!!!!!???? This has bad quality and is a money trap. Dont waste your money on this useless game.

$5.79 for b777-200er my favourite plane that should be $2.79!!!!! Otherwise great simulator

In the storm weather, the rare view keeps shaking and moving around. Truly annoying. Better put the effort on how the wind affect the plane, instead of the view

In computer is a lot of fun with more aircrafts but in iPod version is little aircrafts

Waste of money. Poorly designed. Full of bugs. Do yourself a favour and get infinite flight instead.

More a game than a simulator. Used to own the older version and surprised to see this new version is even worst . Far interior than competitor such as infinite flight.
